May 30, 2009. The national pageant Miss Paragauy is back with its new queen Viviana Mabel Benitez Duarte from Misiones. Viviana is a 23 year-old medicine student in Asuncion. Natalia Medina Peralta (Amambay) was chosen Miss University Paraguay, Maria Marta Raviolo (Caaguazu) was the 1st runner-up and Karina Maqueda Ramírez (Concepcion) was the 2nd runner-up. Miss Paraguay 2009 is not national representative of Paraguay to 2009 Miss Universe,2009 Miss World, 2009 Miss International and 2009 Miss Earth Pageant.
Miss Universo Paraguay will be held on 10 July 2009
The winner will represent Paraguay in 2009 Miss Universe Pageant. Miss Universe 2009, the 58th Miss Universe beauty pageant, will be held at the Atlantis Paradise Island, in Nassau, Bahamas on August 23, 2009. Dayana Mendoza, from Venezuela, winner of Miss Universe 2008, will crown her successor in the event.
The 1st Runner Up will represent Paraguay in 2009 World Contest. Miss World 2009, the 59th Miss World beauty pageant will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, where Ksenia Sukhinova of Russia will crown her successor, Miss World 2008. About 120 contestants are expected to attend the event.
While the 2nd Runner Up will represent Paraguay in Miss International 2009 and 3rd Runner Up will represent Paraguay in Miss Earth 2009.
